Ways to use everyday objects in unusual ways.

With the economy in its current state, wouldn't it be nice to find some alternate uses for household items to help us save a little money? It's pretty easy to troll the internet for plenty of sources for this information. Below I'll list some of my favorites.

Bounce/Dryer Sheets

1. Mosquito repellent - tie a sheet through one of your belt loops when you're outside in mosquito season and they'll keep their distance.

2. Eliminate static cling from pantyhose - rub a used, damp dryer sheet over your pantyhose to keep your clothing from sticking.

3. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors - rub a used dryer sheet over your shower doors and that soap scum will disappear.

ChapStick^® Lip Balm

1. Stop bleeding while shaving - if you nick yourself while shaving, rub some on to stop the bleeding.

2. Prevent hair coloring from dying your skin - when dying your hair, rub some lip balm along your hair line to keep the dye from coloring your skin.

Waxed Floss

1. Cut a cake - place a cake on a flat surface so there is nothing obstructing the edges. Cut a piece of floss as long as the length of the cake. Slide the floss through the cake and back out for a clean cut.

2. Sew buttons on heavy coats - it makes a pretty durable thread alternative.

Toothpaste

1. Fill in nail holes in cement wall or drywall - you can use plain white toothpaste to fill in those pesky little holes.

2. Stop bug bites from itching - dab a little on an irritating bug bite and it will stop itching. Mint works well.
